Suzy in her writing chair

Suzy_Allegra_author

Unlike other many other authors, Suzy writes all her books and most of her articles in her writing chair, long hand, on a large unlined artist pad. She has learned a way to allow the words to come through her, the same way that colors and shapes come through her when she creates art. Of course, she revises her work using the computer, and works with professional editors to create the best work she can. But it all begins in this chair!

Suzy Allegra had her first book traditionally published in 2002. How to Be Ageless, Growing Better, Not Just Older, received kudos for helping the boomer generation accept the inevitable—aging. And doing so gracefully. Her second book, Where’s Your Organization’s Heart? Questions to Propel Your Organization to Greatness (2005) was a handy little book, full of questions that encouraged employees and leaders alike to look at themselves and reflect on their effectiveness and attitudes.1

Her latest book, Suzy’s first memoir, Recovering Good Girl, is in production and will be published shortly. However, before the book debuts, you can read her articles and take her workshops, webinars, and podcasts on this topic. These are being planned as you read this.

The epidemic of the Good Girl Syndrome ™ has been going on in America for eons. It’s only been in recent decades, however, that more choices have been available for women in careers. But that doesn’t stop the Good Girl Syndrome™. No matter what a woman’s occupation or marital status, women have been trained since early in history to serve others and give up themselves. Serving isn’t a bad thing. Giving up oneself in the process is!

It’s unfortunate that women are labeled demeaning terms when they stand up for themselves, or decide they need to consider their own needs. But that’s another topic… Recovering good girls are welcome to email Suzy their stories and join her on her blog www.recoveringgoodgirl.com
